Lisa Wagner (09.11.2025) • Notes: • • Her typical work day? • Vorprüfung und Hauptprüfung • Most companies do it at 31.12. • Vorprüfung: • Vor Ort -> Prozessbesprechung mit Einkauf, Personal, HR etc. -> understand processes and internal controls • This week 4 Vorprüfungen • 2 to 4 people of Deloitte document the processes -> they are not allowed to record it with AI -> AI would be nice -> not allowed because of Personenbezogenen • They have a questionnaire which they go through • When its a new client -> its even more effort • Internal control: • Aufsichtsratprotokolle -> 4 per year per law -> there are requirements formally -> they check notes (e.g. not AI generated) • Large bookings -> approval process by leadership -> signature • Analytische Verfahren (preliminary analytics) • Compare Bilanz und G&V mit Vorjahr -> Wesentlichkeitsgrenze (e.g. 1 Mio) -> if Bilanz > 1 Mio -> they do not look at Beträge < 1 Mio. • They also do it during Hauptprüfung • Main purpose: that Hauptprüfung is not that much stress anymore • They look at the first 9 months -> often a lot of effort to clarify outstanding stuff • Hauptprüfung • Stichproben ziehen und auswerten • They have an AI tool that selects the sample for them • Stichproben take Most time of her time • Umsatzerlöse, Debitoren, Kreditoren • Stichproben for all of them • Umsatzerlöse: PO, Invoice, Lieferschein • She escalates when something • Example Umsatzerlöse: • Datenaufbereitung -> Excel with all Buchungen -> they have to clean the Excel -> a lot of effort • Voest: Umsatzerlösjournal -> multiple hours • Then AI tool does the sample -> they insert parameter (e.g. Wesentlichkeit) • Data snipper (kind of an AI tool) -> client sends the PDFs -> earlier manual -> the tool automatically inserts it and they just have to doublecheck • Kritische Grundhaltung • They have an internal version of ChatGPT (much worse than ChatGPT - “eBuddy”) • Also no Personenbezogenen Daten • Time per client: • Mid sized: • Vorprüfung: 1 week • Hauptprüfung: 1 month (VOEST 2 months) • Documentation: a lot of summaries -> they have to write down and clarify stuff • They have contracts of 50 pages -> company name is not allowed • They write down all the errors - if all errors is larger than a threshold -> Fehlerliste • Deloitte USA is probably more progressive • They rotate all 5 years -> she worked with ca. 10 companies • Do they also recommend stuff or “only” audit? • Recommendations: management letter -> they are allowed to make some high level recommendations but not core purpose • Biggest challenges in her workday? • Datenaufbereitung -> Excel -> interns make a lot of mistake -> data basis for everything • They work all in the team -> responsibilities are split -> coordination is a challenge • Abstimmung mit Klienten -> takes time -> a lot of iterations -> sometimes blocked • She thinks most of the time • Which software tools are they using? Internal ones? • eBuddy (ChatGPT) • DataSnipper (Stichproben) • She thinks external development • Excel (analytics bar -> main thing she uses) • There is an audit plugin (internal development) • When Excel is complete bereinigt -> Stichprobenwahl • Prüfungssoftware (EMS / Levia -> Onia) • Has all documents -> there has to be a Prüfungshandlung for every category in Bilanz / G&V (AV, UV - Vorräte, Forderungen, Kassa, Bank; FK, EK etc.) • No AI features • Most complex cases she sees? What is most tricky? • Umsatzerlöse is most important -> Periodenabgrenzung has most errors • They put it into old year to get more bonus • Some companies do not understand it / they do not have the competency - larger company • Never mistakes: Bankbestätigungen -> they get Bankbriefe to check the balance of the bank -> never a problem • Forderungen & Verbindlichkeiten: • Debitor bei Forderung -> sie senden a Saldenliste an Supplier to double check -> often Abgrenzungen do not match • 3 way match: normally no problem • They do not look at the supplier contract -> maybe managers look at it • They also do facturing • Abweichungen von PO to invoice happens rarely -> she asks -> most of the time covered by; mismatch between PO and invoice is not flagged by them • Inco terms: always is on the invoice -> dive deeper • Potential von AI in Wirtschaftsprüfung? • See above • Has he seen AI at customers? • Not really • During Prozess Gespräche -> they did not ask re. AI • Biggest mistakes they find?
