Diego Meier (15.10.2025) • He thinks about both companies • Stadler: • Classic accounting SW; Buchungen eingeben; • Excel export from ebanking and upload; a lot of manual work • Predefined views to look at data -> export to Excel • Fast lookup -> views; more analytics in Excel • Data requests: was a lot the case • Send template in Excel; macro to send template to people -> they sent it back (Beschaffung, Produktion, engineering, Projektleitung) • Time to get data: was ok -> company was led in the monthly rhythm -> management and controlling came together to discuss with analysis -> not a big effort • Would weekly rhythm make sense? • Monthly rhythm is good • His task: • Risk management of Fertigungsaufträge -> he needed a lot of info from people from a lot of systems - and sometimes not even systems • Beschaffung: check if budget is enough for a certain Auftrag • Production: check budget • Feedback: • Use case: a lot of fragmented data -> • Interesting use case he suggested: • Rechnungs-Workflow: Invoice from supplier -> they check with PO -> mostly manual -> check if all info is on it -> is order number; does the amount match • Nicht-Bestell-bezogene Rechnungen (e.g. Versicherungsrechnung) • Person 1 has to check it; Person 2 has to check it; accounting has to kontieren it • Automatic detection how to kontierne it or to send to which person to freigeben • Most of invoices is digital • Reconciliation: match payment with invoices -> very manual • Process to gather data for controlling -> once a month -> time it is not that sensitive • use case that i suggested: • Supplier Abgleich: he was not convinced -> for Methrom he does not know; Stadler not really because business was tailor made / large projects - but then he said: Stadler is very decentral but similar/same suppliers -> there one could take all these data and compare • Methrom: 61 Standorte, but 80% of goods are made in Herisau -> good overview because of that • People that automate processes • No automation - Business Intelligence team -> stacked Power BI on different systems • They made automatic exports -> regular into a data warehouse • Methrom: no • Stadler: • Number of invoices from customer is not too high - because large invoices -> one person only doing Debitoren Rechnungen - per bn dollar revenue one or two people doing that • Use cases in other departments: • A lot of effort: engineering had to do time tracking - but probably not a big effort in the end • TL;DR: probably nice to have -> process automation to hire less people -> faster process • Controlling is monthly basis when books are closed • Methrom Departments: • Accounting • Creditoren (1-2 people) • Debitoren (1 person) • Controlling (1 - 2 people) • No Finance team / Controlling is responsible for Gruppenabschlüsse / hedging process -> make sure Tochtergesellschaften alles passt • Stadler: more has finance • FIBU • Controlling • Group treasury: hedging, insurances, accretive, Finanzierungslinien • Steuer team
